Your ears are as vital to your daily life as your eyes. If you’ve noticed a decline in your hearing over the past few years, our Ear & Hearing Health Check is the ideal way to assess your auditory health.
At Nottingham Ear Clinic, we recommend an annual ear and hearing check for individuals over 50 and every two years for those over 40.
Step One: Consultation with a GP
Our doctor will begin by discussing your medical history, lifestyle, and occupation. We will also explore any hearing difficulties you may be experiencing, whether you’ve used hearing aids in the past, and in which specific situations you would like to improve your hearing.
Step Two: Ear Health Examination
Using a Digital Video Otoscope, we will examine the health of your ears, checking for any blockages, abnormalities, or issues with your eardrum and ear canal. We will take high-quality photos and video images of both ears, which can be sent to your GP upon request. These images can be useful for future comparisons. If any concerns are identified, our doctors will discuss the best course of action (additional fees may apply).
Step Three: Hearing Screening
Next, we will conduct a brief hearing screening to assess your hearing ability. This simple, non-invasive test involves playing a series of sounds at various volumes and pitches to determine if you would benefit from a more comprehensive hearing assessment.
Step Four: Explanation of Results
We believe it’s crucial for you to fully understand the results of your hearing screening. At the end of your appointment, we will take the time to explain the findings clearly and answer any questions you may have.
Step Five: Further Treatment
If further treatment is needed, our doctor will provide recommendations based on the results of your consultation.
